A BUS driver was robbed of his takings by two young men in Newbridge on Wednesday.
Martin Hughes, who has worked for Glyn Williams Buses for a week, was robbed as he drove the Abertillery to Blackwood route.
Mr Hughes, aged 21 and from Ebbw Vale, said the bus was empty except for the two men, who approached him at the Manor Park stop in Treowen, just after 6pm.
"One of them asked me if I was all right. I said I was, but then they demanded money," he told the Argus.
Mr Hughes did not know if the men were armed and handed over around £112 in takings, and £24 of his own money.
They fled in the direction of Manor Park. "I was really gutted when it happened," he said. "I have only been in the job for a week."
He added, however, that the company had been very supportive - and he was back at work the day after the incident.
One robber is described as white, around 5ft 7in and in his late teens, wearing a dark green jacket, jeans, black trainers and purple gloves, with a black scarf over the lower half of his face.
The other man was white, in his mid 20s, about 5ft 11ins and he was wearing navy Adidas track suit bottoms, with a navy blue jacket with 59 across the chest. He was of medium build.
PC Andy Harris, of Risca Police, said anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information should contact Risca Police Station on 01633 612391.
