THE bells of St Tudor's Church in Mynyddislwyn were ringing out in aid of charity at the weekend - and it was all thanks to one 12-year-old boy.
Geraint King organised the sponsored 'ringathon' in aid of BBC's Children in Need.
The Newbridge Comprehensive School pupil managed to get fellow bell-ringers from across the county to join him for the marathon ringing event which lasted throughout Saturday.
Ringers from Newport, Llandaff Cathedral, Monmouth and Caerphilly all joined in with the noisy fun. St Tudor's Church warden, Rita Purnell, said: "Geraint wanted to raise money for Children in Need and thought a sponsored 'ringathon' would be a novel way to do so.
"He is a very enthusiastic, caring and thoughtful teenager, he has put a lot of effort and time into organising this event, and he has done a great job of it.
"We hope to have raised a lot of money for a very good cause."
And the parish say they are very proud of their young bell-ringer. Rita Purnell said: "It's great to see a young person so actively involved in their local community."
