A SPEED camera on the approach to Newport was out of action this morning after three men set it on fire.
The burning camera, on the A48 near Caerwent, was reported to police by a resident of Caldicot just after 6.20am today.
Inspector Peter Davies, of Gwent Police, said: "Extensive damage was caused and the camera is now out of action.
"Three men were seen getting into a vehicle and setting off towards Newport."
The incident follows a series of attacks on speed cameras in Essex and London by a group called Motorists Against Detection. It is not yet known if this incident is linked.
