RICHARD Burton's extraordinary life - how many men survived one marriage to Elizabeth Taylor, let alone two? - was only overshadowed by his superlative talent.
His voice was recently used in a new production of Under Milk Wood in the role that will forever be his own, First Voice, with new actors added around his original recording.
In Playing Burton, coming to Blackwood Miners' Institute on Wednesday, George Telfer takes on the role of Burton in a show about his life.
It covers everything from his early years as Richard Jenkins, of Pontrhydyfen, through spells at Oxford and in the RAF, through to his life in Hollywood as the most famous Welsh actor of his generation.
Playing Burton is at the 'Stute from 7.30pm on Wednesday. Tickets are £9 or £8 concessions. Box office 01495 227206.
