A NEWPORT councillor signed copies of his memoirs of battles both in the Korean War and in the boxing ring.
Councillor Noel Trigg, 69, of Bettws, wrote about the horrors of his time as a soldier and the glory of being a champion army boxer.
His self-published book, A Different Kind of Fighting, was released yesterday at a book signing at Ottakars, Commercial Street, Newport. Councillor Trigg said: "It was a great sense of closure to be signing the book and handing it over to readers.
"A lot of friends came to the signing and I sold about 60 copies. It was fantastic."
Councillor Trigg's book describes his posting to Korea and Japan in 1952, and how he was injured by a booby trap, and boxed officers to entertain the troops.
