Candle fans may be waxing more lyrical now following the establishment of a new business in Trethomas.
Cadwalladers Candles is the brainchild of local housewife Christina Cadwallader.
For many years Christina made candles as a hobby to give to family and friends until one day her husband Andrew suggested she should turn her pastime into something more serious.
Christina approached Caerphilly borough council for help in setting up her own business and was successful in securing a Business Start Up Grant to help buy new equipment including special melting vats.
She said: "What started out as a hobby has now turned into a real business venture and we are delighted with the help that we have received from the council to get the business off the ground.
"We produce a range of hand crafted, quality candles suitable for a range of occasions and different tastes. Business is looking good and we are planning to move into the wedding market in the near future."
All of the candles produced by Christina are made with high quality, 100% natural ingredients. The range includes wedding candles and favours, scented traditional candles, fruit chunks and pure beeswax candles.
Councillor Rob Gough, a CCBC cabinet member, said, "We are always delighted to see new businesses created in the Caerphilly county borough and we will always do our best to help out as much as possible.
Starting a new business can be a daunting prospect, but there is plenty of help and support available to make these dreams become a reality."
