NEWPORT and Gwent Dragons ace Nathan Brew makes his international debut tonight but the outside centre insists he has no expectations of making Steve Hansen's World Cup squad.

Brew will line-up alongside fellow Dragons stars Andy Marinos and Ian Gough while Chris Anthony and Paul Young are both on the bench.

Wales take on Romania at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, but despite Hansen saying that more places are up for grabs as a result of his side's woeful performance against England on Saturday, Brew has no expectations of making the squad.

"It's just an honour to be asked and considered," said Brew. "But in terms of nailing a place in his World Cup squad, well I'm not even thinking about that.

"I just want to play well and take it from there. I'm slightly nervous but as soon as the game starts I should be OK."

Brew, normally a centre, lines up on the wing, but the 20-year-old doesn't mind where he plays.

"Obviously wing isn't my natural position, but I've played there before and I don't mind where I line-up as long as I'm playing," said Brew.

"Just to where the red jersey is a huge honour and I'm still on a high."

If Brew is nervous then he'll have some pretty experienced heads around him.

Dragons coach Mike Ruddock takes charge of the Wales squad while Steve Hansen prepares the rest of his players for their match against Scotland on Saturday.

Brew admits having a few of his regional team-mates around him as well as his regional coach will be a boost.

"Having Mike there will be a huge help. He knows me quite well, and when you are nervous or playing a big game you want people around you that you recognise," he said.

"But Andy Marinos will also be there, as well a few of the other Dragons boys."

Brew scored his first regional try on Friday night when the Dragons lost 31-7 to Leeds Tykes at Pontypool Park, and he is hoping he has already staked his claim for a first team spot in the newly formed regional team.

"I've heard Mike is looking for a quality outside centre. Hopefully my performance against Leeds did enough to convince him that I'm ready for a regular place," he said.
