Great Britain's Christian Malcolm glided his way into the quarter-finals of the 200 metres at the World Champion-ships in Paris this morning.
The Welshman, wearing tinted sunglasses in the Stade de France sunshine, finished third in his first round heat to reach the next stage this evening.
"That was cool - I'm happy," said Newport's Malcolm, who was fifth at the 2001 worlds when tipped for a medal though this time he has not contested the 100m as well, having also reached that final in Edmonton.
Malcolm eased his way across the line in 20.65 seconds as Stephane Buckland of Mauritius won in 20.38sec from Anastasios Gousis (20.57) who is carrying Greek hopes following last night's withdrawal of World, Olympic and European champion Konstadinos Kederis through injury.
