St Andrews Major Golf Club in the Vale of Glamorgan is 10 years old this year. The club was founded in 1993 when owners John Edmunds and John Llewellyn opened up the club as a nine-hole course. Since then an awful lot has happened. John Llewellyn has left, for a start, and the place is now run by John Edmunds and his family. "My wife Astrid," said John "and my two sons Andrew and Nigel are all involved in the business. It's a real family concern." The course was extended to a full 18-holes two years ago and is now developing well. A driving range was added 3 years ago and its popularity in the Vale is already well known. "When we started we didn't even have a clubhouse," said John Edmunds. "We used to operate out of a little hut. Now we have a great clubhouse and a superb atmosphere. This place has always been a friendly environment - that's something we're very proud of." St Andrews Major has made great strides in its first ten years. We wish them well for their anniversary.
