A man aged 49 was taken to hospital by ambulance after the incident was reported at Kier Hardie Crescent, Alway, at about 1pm yesterday.

"We are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident. "A 49-year-old local man had what are believed to be knife wounds to his hand and left arm."
He said the 17-year-old was charged with wounding and public order offences and that further witnesses were being interviewed. Deborah Acreman, 32, of Kier Hardie Crescent, said: "There was blood on the road and the council had to clean it up. It was mostly outside the house."
Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "It's a shock. "We haven't had anything like this before. You don't want it happening with all the kids around on the street."
