CONTROVERSIAL lock Chris Wyatt is on the brink of a Wales recall for Saturday's game against England at the Millennium Stadium.

The Llanelli and former Newport player has not started a game for Wales for 17 months when England demolished them 50-10 at Twickenham.

He was a late call-up for the summer tour Down Under and went on as a replacement against New Zealand.

But Wyatt had previously fallen foul of both coaches Graham Henry and Steve Hansen and, despite winning 35 caps, found himself out in the cold for lengthy periods, mainly for disciplinary reasons.

But Wyatt insists he is a reformed character and Hansen has now handed him a late opportunity to clinch a place in the World Cup squad.

Hansen will name his side to face England on Wed-nesday, but only one player is expected to remain from the Ireland game in Dublin - wing Gareth Thomas.

He led the side against the Irish and scored his 31st try for Wales in his 67th international, though this time the captaincy will revert to Martyn Williams.

The only other player involved in the 22 from Dublin as Hansen goes for a full strength side against England is prop Gethin Jenkins.

Sonny Parker, who has been out all year with a broken arm, finally gets another chance. His last appearance was against his native New Zealand nine months ago and twice suffered a recurrence of his injury.

Youngsters who impressed in the Irish game will get a further opportunity against Romania or Scotland next week.
