WANNABE singing sensation Zara Man-sfield is set to perform as pop favourite, Mariah Carey in a Welsh roadshow.

The mini-mimic will take part in Haribo's Young Impressionist competition - and hopes to wow judges with her rendition of the diva's hit, Emotions.

The 13-year-old, of Old Barn Way, Abergavenny, secured her place in the semi-final and will now take centre stage on August 25 in Cardiff.

She beat off competition from hundreds of other young hopefuls to share the stage with chart-toppers Romeo and 3rd Edge.

The event forms part of the Haribo Truck Tour, which will visit ten seasides and cities across Britain during August.

If Zara hits the right note with judges, she will go through to the grand final in London in September.

The excited teenager told the Argus: "I love being on stage - it's like a different me when I'm up there.

"I'm normally quite shy, but when I get on stage I'm all confident - like a performer."

Mariah Carey is one of her favourite singers and Emotions was an obvious choice.

Zara said: "I bought her CD and started to sing along to it and realised I could sing like her. So I learnt the words."

Zara can even hit the top notes Carey is famed for. She has been fine-tuning her talent since she was aged just five, regularly has voice training and plans to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

Zara said: "My idol is Sarah Brightman. I want to be an opera singer."

At the semi-finals in Cardiff Zara's performance will be marked by stage school supremo Sylvia Young, Children's BBC presenter Ortis and GMTV's Jamie Rickers.

Two winners will receive a week's summer school at the world-famous Sylvia Young Academy, which boasts Emma Bunton, Natalie Appleton and Denise Van Outen among its famous former pupils.

They will also appear on national TV and walk away with an all-inclusive Club Med family holiday in Florida.

Two runners-up will also enjoy a week's sunshine at Club Med's Athenia resort in Greece with their families.
