CAERPHILLY council is denying reports that the family of the Gwent toddler who was killed when a wall collapsed had previously complained to them about its safety.
Connor Morgan, aged 16 months, died after a three- foot-high brick wall collapsed at his grandparents' council house in Cefn Fforest Avenue, Cefn Fforest, near Blackwood, last Thursday evening.
Paramedics tried in vain to save the toddler, who was taken to the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
Council safety officers are carrying out their own investigation and co-operating with the joint Gwent Police and Health and Safety Executive investigation.
No decision has been made yet as to whether the council was responsible for the wall.
But some media reports of the toddler's death included allegations by neighbours that Connor's family had complained to Caerphilly council about the state of the wall.
A council spokesman told the Argus on Saturday: "The council has no knowledge of any complaint received from the family.
"We would like to reiterate our sympathies to the family of the child."
Gwent coroner David Bowen is due to open an inquest into the death.
