DETAILED plans on how crime in a Pontypool blackspot can be tackled effectively will be available soon.
The first major projects for the Trevethin, St Cadocs and Penygarn area were recently chosen by the local Communities First partnership, a National Assembly-funded project aimed at regenerating deprived areas through a series of grass-roots projects.
The proposals include:
* revamping shops on Church Avenue with crime prevention facilities;
* remodelling the shopping area;
* prevention of access to roofs;
* new lighting and vegetation clearance.
The Communities First initiative has already netted £642,000 from the National Assembly to regenerate the area, and there could be millions more available.
