Michael Kasprowicz and Robert Croft ran through some indeterminate Hampshire batting to leave Glamorgan on the brink of a decisive victory at the Rose Bowl.

Hampshire were bowled out for 185 in their first innings and following on 252 behind were a miserable 114 for four at the close of play on the second day.

Australian pace bowler Kasprow-icz took five for 48 in the Hampshire first innings and Croft took all four wickets when Hampshire batted again.

Glamorgan, 436 for nine over-night, batted on at the start of the day to add one run in seven balls before Dean Cos-ker edged Dimitri Mascarenhas to Simon Katich in the slips.

Hampshire were soon in trouble and never recovered, five of their batsmen reaching 20 or more but failing to build a big innings as Kasprowicz undermined their frail confidence.

Top scorer was John Francis with 27 and Croft was no less effective in the first innings, removing Francis and danger man John Crawley to catches close to the wicket.

There was late resistance in the first innings from Chris Tremlett and James Bruce but Glamorgan were not to be denied.

Kasprowicz began the rout by removing opener Jimmy Adams and fellow Australian Katich in his first spell and returned later to dismiss Nic Pothas and then at the end to get rid of Tremlett and last man James Tomlinson.

In the second innings off-spinner Croft first removed Derek Kenway as the opening batsman attempted to sweep and then had Adams caught at the wicket for 21. Worse was to follow for Hampshire when their captain Crawley was stumped going down the wicket to Croft and the only resistance appeared to come from Katich.

With a series of belligerent blows, Katich raced to his half-century with eight boundaries but in the last over of the day carelessly lofted Croft to long leg where Alex Wharf clutched an easy catch.
