ABERGAVENNY market is to feature in a new documentary series about the work of the elite army regiment, the SAS.
On Tuesday a BBC film crew filming a 15- part series about the undercover operations of the SAS mingled with shoppers in Abergavenny.
The series is called SAS Survival Skills, and programme makers were filming an example of an undercover operation taking place in Abergavenny, where the SAS were guiding a VIP.
A BBC spokeswoman said that the show, set to appear on TV in September, would explain why the SAS are so well respected and are the best in the world. To add to this, Wall to Wall Television Ltd has asked Monmouthshire county council for permission to film at Grosmont Castle this month.
The company are filming a documentary series, Regency House, at Kentchurch Court, in Herefordshire.
A group of people are invited to go back in time and live like the inhabitants of a Regency house.
As part of the programme, and to illustrate the early-19th-century trend for touring ruins, the company want to film a sketching tour to Grosmont Castle, where ten people from the group will visit, dressed in period costume.
Dave Harris, head of the film response section at Monmouthshire county council, said that the request for filming had been passed to Cadw, as the castle belonged to them. He said: "Cadw seems to be OK with the idea to date, and hopefully another bit of filming to add to our ever-growing list will soon be in the can."
