CWMBRAN Town have stood by their price promise and will charge fans a bargain £7 for tickets to their exciting European date with Maccabi Haifa.

And Crows chairman John Colley insisted the glamorous home tie WILL be played at Cwmbran Stadium.

Haifa, Israeli League runners-up last term and champions seven times, beat Manchester United 3-0 last year in the Champions League before they went out in the first phase.

Haifa also accounted for Chelsea's UEFA Cup downfall the season before last - and are hotly-tipped to progress far in this year's competition.

Colley had been advised to cash-in on the high-profile nature of their opponents and up the admission charge for the Cwmbran Stadium showdown on August 14 (5.45pm).

But the Town chief concluded that would not fair on Gwent's footballing public. Tickets will be £7 for adults and £3 for juniors under-16.

"I could have raised the admission charge but I don't think that's fair on the fans," said Colley.

"We have decided to play the home tie at Cwmbran Stadium and we want a 2,000-capacity full-house.

"We could have gone elsewhere (Cardiff City's Ninian Park was an option) but we wanted to keep it in Cwmbran to give Gwent's football fraternity the opportunity to watch one of Europe's best sides.

"There will be heavy security costs too because we want to host it in Cwmbran so I really hope local football fans turn out in numbers to cheer the boys on."

The Welsh Cup finalists' away leg with Haifa, the first Israeli side to compete in the Champions League, will be played in the Turkish city of Izmir due to security concerns in Israel. That match is on August 28.

Tickets for Cwmbran's home tie with Haifa will be on sale at Town's pre-season friendly with Division One new boys Cardiff City next Wednesday (7.30pm).
