TWO Gwent showjumpers with famous relatives have been chosen to represent Great Britain at forthcoming European Championships.
Matthew Broome, son of former Olympics bronze medallist David, has been named in the five-man squad for the European Young Rider Championships at Le Touquet, France, from July 3-6.
And Gemma Plumley, daughter of former fourth-placed Olympic rider Debbie Plumley (formerly Johnsey) has been included in the five-man team for the Junior European Champ-ionships in San Remo, Italy, from July 10-13.
Plumley will ride the Johnsey Estates Ltd. horse Continue B while Broome will ride Lady Harris' Hopes are High.
The full Young Rider team is: Matthew Broome (Hopes are High), James Davenport of Knutsford (Florie Du Moul-in), Ricki Hill from Benfleet (Athena XV), Ben Maher from Bishops Stortford (Clouds Away) and Robert Whitaker from Huddersfield (Qualite).
The junior team is: Gemma Plumley (Continue B), James Billington from Nantwich (Ash-ley), Tim Gredley from Newmarket (Medrano), Louise Pavitt from Godalming (Mulligan) and Barnsley's Ellen Whitaker (Kans-elier).
