JENNA had a blazing row with murder suspect Michael Baldwin less than two weeks before she disappeared, jurors heard.

Baldwin, aged 36, of Limekiln Road, Pontnewynydd, denies murdering stepdaughter Jenna, 15, between September 3 and 11 last year.

Her body was discovered in a shallow grave between Fiddler's Elbow and the Cordell Country Inn, Blaenavon.

Yesterday Merna Boucher, who was a next-door neighbour of the Baldwins in Ffrwd Road, Abersychan, told Cardiff crown court how Jenna yelled at the defendant in a row on Thurs-day, August 29.

Mrs Boucher said Jenna was trying to get into the house at around 12.45pm, while Baldwin, a poultry factory worker, was in bed after a night shift.

She said that after trying the front and back door several times, and even the defendant's Ford Fiesta, Jenna began "hammering the bay window".

Mrs Boucher added: "Mike must have got out of bed because she was shouting at Mike. "She just shouted to Mike '******* let me in, you bastard, you ******* bastard, I want to go to the bathroom'.

"She just kept on saying that, and Mike must have said something because she said, 'you don't want to ******* stay up there and laugh, you ******* bastard, you'd better get down here and let me in'."

David Aubrey, QC, prosecuting, then asked if Jenna said anything else.

Mrs Boucher said: "Mike was still laughing at her because Jenna said, 'stop laughing and let me in the ******* house'. That went on, and then she shouted up to him, 'you won't be ******* laughing when I tell Mam,' and something like, 'you'll be ******* out of here when she comes home'. Mike must have went down and opened the door and grabbed her in."

Mr Aubrey asked: "Was there anything to suggest that Jenna had been grabbed?" and Mrs Boucher replied: "I heard a squeal or scream, like somebody was being pulled in."

She said she didn't hear anything else after that.

But Mr Peter Murphy, QC, defending, told the court Mrs Boucher had failed to tell the police about the "squeal" until January - three months after making her first statement. Mr Murphy said: "I'm going to suggest to you there was no scream."

Mr Aubrey, prosecuting, re-examined Mrs Boucher, and asked how sure she was about hearing Jenna squeal.

Mrs Boucher replied: "No doubt at all."

Mrs Boucher also told the court how she saw Jenna sitting outside her house, talking with a young girl, a week after the alleged argument between the teenager and Baldwin.

Mr Aubrey asked Mrs Boucher if she was at home on September 10, when the defence allege Jenna died by accidentally falling down the stairs.

Mrs Boucher told the court she worked the afternoon shift and was at home until around 12.45pm.

Mr Aubrey asked if she had seen Jenna that morning and heard shouting and banging on the door. She replied 'no'.

"In fact," Mr Aubrey added, "after you saw her sitting outside did you ever see Jenna Baldwin again?"

Mrs Boucher said: "No."

Mr Murphy, defending, told the court Mrs Boucher said she last saw Jenna on the Monday before she disappeared, but later changed this to either the Wednesday or Friday.

The jury heard Mrs Boucher's sister visited every Friday and occasionally on a Wednesday. The sister would also visit Mrs Boucher's niece, who lived in Ffrwd Road.

Mr Murphy said to Mrs Boucher: "In other words you are basing your sighting of Jenna because your sister and niece told you they had seen her." Proceeding
