MICHAEL Baldwin was today back in the dock at Cardiff crown court to stand trial for the murder of his teenage stepdaughter, Jenna Brookfield.
Jurors were sworn in yesterday afternoon - six men and six women will hear the case against the man accused of one of the highest-profile murders in Gwent.
Baldwin, 36, is accused of murdering his 15-year-old stepdaughter, Jenna, between September 3 and 11 last year.
Her body was found late on November 18 in a shallow grave in a lay-by beside the B4246 between Blaenavon and Abergavenny.
Baldwin's trial is expected to last six weeks, with 200 witnesses being called to give evidence.
Their names were called out by junior prosecutor Huw Evans yesterday, and before each member of the jury was sworn in, they had to inform the Recorder of Cardiff, Judge John Griffith Williams, whether they had any connections with them.
Jenna's mum, Desiree, arrived in court supported by her daughter's boyfriend, Chris Jones, and family members.
The case was adjourned after the jury was sworn in yesterday. Today the opening address by prosecutor David Aubrey, QC, who will outline the Crown's case against Baldwin, was due to be heard.
