IT was the perfect way for a group of would-be salts to be initiated into life on the ocean wave.
Four new members of the 29th Newport Sea Scouts were sworn in to the group actually over the waves of the River Usk.
They took part in a ceremony inside the gondola of Newport's historic Transporter Bridge.
