IESTYN Harris and Mefin Davies are set to start for Wales in Saturday's Six Nations Championship finale against an unchanged France team in Paris.

Harris is likely to be named at inside centre when the side is announced this evening after impressing as a second half replacement against Ireland.

Coach Steve Hansen regards Stephen Jones as his number one outside half where his robustness and kicking ability is invaluable.

But Harris' passing skills in particular can also be utilised and inside centre is his likely role.

That means Tom Shanklin could switch to the wing with Mark Jones doubtful because of the back injury he suffered in the opening minutes against Ireland.

Shanklin is such a whole-hearted player that he may have figured on the wing in any case.

And with Jonathan Humphreys ruled out by recurring shoulder trouble, Davies is expected to step in after replacing him against Ireland.

He performed far better than he did against Italy, and Gareth Williams, who played against Scotland, is expected to have recovered from his hand injury to make the bench. Martyn Williams, who led Wales at Murrayfield, is favourite to regain the captaincy.

Possible team: R Williams, T Shanklin, M Taylor, I Harris, G Thomas, S Jones, D Cooper, I Thomas, M Davies, G Jenkins, R Sidoli, G Llewellyn, C Charvis, D Jones, M Williams (captain).

Meanwhile, the premier clubs are facing another total breakdown with WRU chief David Moffett tonight on the five-team plan for Europe and the Celtic League.

The problem is finance, with the regions wanting £8m a season and the WRU offering £7m, which the regions would find unacceptable to run the new teams.

It is believed Moffett will ask the board to sanction £8m for one year, but with WRU chairman Glanmor Griffiths involved the extra money may not be there.
