DANE Niels Kristian Iversen is flying home today with an engine for company!
He was so upset with just four points that he is hoping to get the gremlins out of the system in time for the visit of Wolverhampton next Sunday in the British League Cup.
The talented youngster from Esbjerg picked up four points after failing to score in his first two heats.
Newport promoter Tim Stone said: "He was a bit upset that he didn't score more points and he's going home to sort out the engine problems."
Neil Street, Newport team manager, said: "This is not like an ordinary job. It's a job where unless you are absolutely at your peak you are going to be at the back of the field.
"He just didn't seem to have his touch in the first two races but he got himself going which is the hallmark of a real pro."
Wasps' win was their first success of the season after two draws and a defeat in the three-team M4 Trophy.
On a sun-drenched afternoon there was tremendous action and Street - along with Stone - was simply beaming over the 10-point margin of victory in an action-packed meeting that never lacked for incident or excitement.
Street added: "It was a really good advert for the sport.
"This was more like the way the team should be performing."
Stone said: "After that meeting I am a very happy chappie! It was a great performance and simply a fantastic meeting.
"I was more than happy with the crowd and let's hope they'll be back for the double header with Wolverhampton and Wimbledon next Sunday.
"It's the first time in the modern era that both these teams have ridden at Newport."
