STAND-IN Cwmbran manager Roger Gibbins was unhappy with his side's poor performance against Flexsys.

"I'm disappointed that we didn't win the game and see it as two points dropped," he said.

"It was a poor performance and we never looked getting a goal. 0-0 was a fair reflection of the game. We didn't create enough chances to win the game and not enough players were willing to put themselves on the line.

"That was underlined in the last minute when we hit the bar. Someone should have just rammed the ball into the net but we just couldn't get to the ball.

"I've spoken to the players and they know that that type of performance is not good enough and that I expect better.

"Fair enough, Flexsys probably came for the draw but in situations like that it is up to us to break them down."

However, there was some encouragement for Gibbins as this was Cwmbran's ninth game unbeaten.

"On the positive side it's nice to keep another clean sheet. We're defending much better as a team and that was something that wasn't happening earlier in the season," he said.

"The run continues which is good for team spirit and we'll just aim to keep it going.

"The Welsh Cup is our priority as it is a route into Europe so that is something we're desperate to win. But it's important for us to finish in the top eight in the league as well.

"Whether we finish fifth of eighth is academic just as long as we are in the top eight."

Gibbins also singled out two players for special praise after their fine performance on Saturday: "Gareth Warton and Marty Ellacott are playing very well and that confidence is spreading to the team. Marty didn't have the best start to the season but he's back in form and that's great news for us."
