A CWMBRAN teenager who suffered serious injuries after plunging 45 feet from a car park is well on the road to recovery.
West Mon pupil Craig Brown, 16, of Woodfield Road, New Inn, suffered multiple fractures after falling from the multi-storey car park in Cwmbran town centre just after Christmas.
Craig said: "I had seen two of my friends in the car park lower down and I jumped over the wall to get to them - I thought it was low on the other side.
"I thought when I hit the ground, that would be it. It didn't hurt at first. "I tried to stop some of the cars but most of them wouldn't, then a lady took me over to the police station and they called the ambulance.
"Then, when I was in the ambulance, because of all the turns on the way to Newport I was in pain."
He broke his right kneecap, right shoulder and his left wrist, and shattered his elbow so badly a metal plate and pin had to be inserted.
"The doctors thought I'd be in hospital for two months, but I was only there for six days. "I only went into town to get a Playstation memory card - that fell with me but it still worked fine."
But Craig got a very special get well card - from Newcastle striker Alan Shearer. His brother, Keith, arranged for a card from the former England star. Craig said: "He wrote to Newcastle Football Club and Alan Shearer sent a card back. It was great."
