A GWENT nurse has gone all the way to the Gulf - and now finds herself in the Argus in two very different ways.
Because as well as being featured in your local newspaper, Royal Navy nurse Esther Dallimore is stationed on the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Argus.
Esther, (pictured) from Ebbw Vale, will help treat any injured troops from the ship, a primary casualty reception facility.
Her mother, Linda Harris, of Harcourt Street, Ebbw Vale, said: "She is filled with apprehension but they are ready and prepared for whatever happens," said Mrs Harris yesterday.
Esther, a former Ebbw Vale Comprehensive School pupil, trained as a nurse in Bournemouth and joined the Royal Navy after doing part of her training on HMS Nelson in Portsmouth.
The 26-year- old has served for 15 months and was sent out to the Gulf four weeks ago. "I am very proud of her but obviously I'm also very worried. She is a wonderful daughter, very kind and thoughtful and she is a very efficient nurse," said Mrs Harris.
Another Gwent family keeping an anxious eye on news from the Gulf are the Hadleys, from Rogerstone.
Daniel Hadley is serving with the First The Queens Dragoon Guards in the Gulf. Daniel is "missed very much" by his mother Julie, who lives in The Uplands in Rogerstone with his brother Marcus, 14, and his sister Kate, 10.
And he is "missing like crazy" his two-year-old daughter, Elise, his mum said. "I have sent sweets, magazines, toiletries and stuff like that, the children have written letters and drawn pictures for him. "I'm very apprehensive for Daniel's safety - we want him back home quickly and safely."
