WOULD-be pop stars entertained crowds of shoppers in Cwmbran and competed for a shot at a day in a recording studio.
More than 25 people sang to shoppers in Cwmbran on Saturday as part of a competition in the Asda superstore.
The joint winners of the search for a Coca-Cola pop star were Amy Dee, aged 15, of Hawkes Ridge, Cwmbran and Kazryel Bolwell, 14, of Govilon, who were both awarded 37 points out of 40 by the judges.
The girls, who sang one song each for the competition, were judged on their singing ability, presence and crowd reaction.
They will now go forward to a regional final.
Regional winners will then compete for the chance to win the star prize, a day at a Universal Records recording studio to cut a CD.
Lynne James, the event co-ordinator at Asda, said: "The standard of singing was excellent.
"You would think some of the girls taking part were professionals, but they weren't."
