Wales' Euro 2004 qualifier with Serbia and Montenegro (formerly Yugoslavia) is on course to take place on the scheduled date of April 2.

The assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindic immediately resulted in speculation over the game.

But Ceri Stennett, the Football Association of Wales' spokesman, said this morning: "We are monitoring the situation and we are mindful of the security situation.

"We have a meeting today, which was already scheduled and the Serbia issued will be bigger than it would have been.

"We had three people in Belgrade at the time of the assassination, checking out hotels and training facilities.

"Although it was a tragic thing to have happened things were functioning perfectly normally and at the moment the game is on, but we are monitoring the situation along with UEFA and the Foreign Office and if things change we would the first to be proactive about it."
