Caerphilly out-gunned and out-played their Llanelli opposition last Friday, in a re-arranged Welsh Premiership fixture at Virginia Park.

A well deserved 33-20 victory by the Castletown men saw them outscoring the Heineken Cup semi-finalists by 4 tries to 3.

International duties called on seven of Llanelli's squad representing Wales in Scotland, coupled with an injury list of big-guns.

Both teams settled down to an early exchange of quality kicking and moments of good pressure.

The Castletown men opned the scoring with a try from ex-Wales Under 21, Owain Ashman.

A good platform created by the front eight and slick hands from the back division saw Tongan International, Sione Tuipolotu off-load to Ashman on the wing to beat pacy Wales Winger, Mark Jones for and early try.

Caerphilly didn't wait long for their next, turning defence into attack with a turn-over ball resulting in a 5 metre scrum against the Llanelli line.

Good vision, with space out right for Tuipolotu to slice through to score on 12 minutes. Llanelli pulled back with a try from Neil Boobyer.

Llanelli full-back, Barry Davies closed the gap with a 30 metre penaltmaking it 10-8 to Caerphilly at the break.

Two beautifully crafted tries for Caerphilly, saw the rejuvenated winger, Geraint Lewis, on the end of both touch-downs.

A perfectly weighted kick by centre, Roddy Boobyer, and a kick ahead by Lewis saw him grab his first try on 51 minutes.

His second came on 65 minutes. Luke Richards added the conversion plus two more penalties.

Llanelli made a late fight back with tries from Mark Jones and Leigh Davies well.

Richards closed out the scoring with a penalty to seal an impressive victory.

Caerphilly are in action on Saturday, March 15 against Neath at the Gnoll in the Welsh Premiership League. 2.30 pm kick-off.
