ROGER Roberts had a special invitation this week - to 10 Downing Street. The head of the 150- pupil Oakfield Primary School, in Cwmbran, was invited to a reception hosted by the prime minister in recognition of his work with special-needs children.
Mr Rogers, (pictured) 47, has worked with special- needs children for 26 years. He was joined by 200 other people from around the UK for the event.
He said: "I felt honoured to be invited. I couldn't believe it when I had the invitation. I believe I was nominated because I'm at the chalk face. I actually work with children and my team has developed programmes for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties."
Mr Roberts added: "It was a lovely night. It was lovely walking up the stairs past the pictures of all the past prime ministers. Cherie and Tony Blair mixed with us and the prime minister gave a speech thanking us for our work." Mr Roberts said he didn't get to speak to the PM - but he did shake his hand.
