EBBW Vale have decided to fine five players following Saturday's mass brawl in their Welsh Premiership match against Swansea at St Helen's.
Around 15 players in total were involved in the punch-up just before half-time, with Swansea's Rhodri Jones suffering a broken cheekbone.
Swansea have threatened to cite Ebbw for the incident but rather than wait for the All Whites to act, officials at the Gwent club have decided to take their own measures.
"We've looked at the video and the particular incident several times and have decided to fine five players," said coach Mike Ruddock.
"We called a meeting with the players involved and while they were not happy at being fined they are all professional and they understand that, in situations like Saturday's, they need to keep their discipline."
However, Ruddock still does not believe that his players started the fight or even provoked their opponents on Saturday.
"As far as I can see, Swansea started the fight and, as a result, our players have tried to defend themselves.
"But even so, I still don't condone the actions of my players and that type of thing has no place in the game and I don't want to see it happen again."
Ruddock wouldn't name the players disciplined by the club or even the amount they have been fined but they are believed to include former captain, Chay Billen, centre Nick Wakely and number eight Will Thomas.
"It's an internal matter and we intend to keep it that way," said Ruddock.
"But they won't be suspended as we feel they we defending themselves.
"We've written to Swansea to tell them what we've done and we'd hope that they would follow suit, but that really is up to them."
