WALES have got a big future and success will come sooner rather than later, predicts skipper Jonathan Humphreys.
He has a fitness test on a strained left shoulder and sat out training with the squad yesterday prior to the Six Nations clash with Scotland on Saturday.
But the Bath hooker has already seen enough against England after his shock recall, and while watching the squad train, to forecast a bright future.
"This side is for the future," he said. "The half backs are under 23, Tom Shanklin is 23 and the back five are mainly under 25, so it's a very exciting prospect.
"Wales have got the youngest team in the championship by a mile. I'm a decade older than most of the side.
"We've got to be looking past the Six Nations to the next one when this year's side will be more experienced and in with a chance of winning it. And I believe this side could do it.
"A win against Scotland would be fantastic, not just for the championship but for the self belief of the side.
"They can grow together, but a bit of patience all round is needed."
Humphreys still warns against having too high an expectation after the improved display against England, and insists Murrayfield is a difficult place to win.
"If we don't come up with the result against Scotland but perform well, people should be satisfied.
"Scotland didn't perform well in their first two matches, but they beat South Africa in the autumn so by no stretch do I think Scotland won't be up for it.
"I've been up there twice when we thought we were in with a chance but came off second best,"added Humphreys.
