SWANSEA still have to decide whether to cite Ebbw Vale back row Will Thomas for a punch that fractured All Whites scrum half Rhodri Jones' cheekbone in four places on Saturday.
But Swansea's coach John Connolly believes the Welsh Rugby Union should investigate. Swansea have 14 days from the end of the match to make a citing, Connolly saying: "We have still to decide what to do."
Vale say they will cite Swansea players over other punching incidents in the Welsh Premier Division game if the All Whites go down that road.
But Connolly said: "Tit for tat citings are childish. If Ebbw Vale believe they have a case for citing players on our side they should do so irrespective of any other incident.
"People have to be responsible for their actions - coaches, teams and players.
"It's not acceptable for a player to come in from the side and punch a player in the head and badly injure him.
"The incident was shown on television and we can't have children who play the sport believing such things are acceptable. I believe the Welsh Rugby Union should step in.
"But at the end of the day this matter has to be handled responsibly by all concerned."
Steelmen's coach Mike Ruddock declined to comment further today on the incident until any official complaint from Swansea is made.
But yesterday he said Swansea instigated the punch-ups and threatened to cite some of their players if Thomas was cited as video of the game suggests Swansea's Scott Gibbs, Steve Winn, Dan Dorsey and Dean Thomas were involved in a free-for-all.
