SCOTLAND is a must win game for Wales at Murrayfield on Saturday, says outside half Stephen Jones, hot favourite for a recall after missing the first two games of the Six Nations Championship.

Jones has reported fit after breaking his thumb playing for Llanelli in their last game before the championship.

"It's a must win game for both teams," said Jones. "We are ranked number nine in the world and if we are going to climb the ladder it's a game we got to win.

"Scotland are a very difficult team to beat and we have struggled against them in the past. We lost against them last year and they came back to draw the year before, so it's going to be a hard challenge."

Jones admits it will be tough on Ceri Sweeney if the Pontypridd player has to make way for him after an encouraging first start for Wales in the England match.

"Ceri played very well and controlled the game which was a considerable feat as he was playing against the number one team in the world," said Jones.

"England was hard to take in for me because I was actually in the stadium, the team played well, the atmosphere was brilliant and I wanted to be part of it. I felt isolated not to be part of such a good performance."

A decision on the fitness of skipper Jonathan Humphrys will not be made until tomorrow.

He strained his left shoulder near the end of Bath's game against Saracens on Saturday and has yet to train fully with the Wales squad this week.

"It's still pretty sore, but it's getting better every day and hopefully I will take a full part tomorrow," he said.

Scotland have lost backrow forward Martin Leslie through injury and Bristol's Ross Beattie has been brought in.
