LIKE father like son - this tiny bundle of joy sprinted over the finish line.

These are the first pictures of Newport-born athlete Jamie Baulch's son, Morgan Taylor.

At just a couple of hours old the little lad was already the talk of the maternity ward at the Royal Gwent Hospital after being delivered in record-breaking time.

Just 30 minutes after mum Susannah Spring went into labour on Tuesday, 7lb 14oz Morgan made his big debut.

He even has his own pair of Reebok trainers.

Overwhelmed Jamie told the Argus: "It was such a great moment.

"When I saw him I didn't want to go training - I just love looking at him."

The 29-year-old Olympic 400-metre runner and 30-year-old Susannah, already have seven-year-old son, Jay.

Jamie told the Argus: "When Jay was born I was only 21 and it was all quite scary. "But now we've got our own place and I've got my career. I feel grown up and in control."

Doting big brother Jay was secretly nervous about the new addition but now cannot stop giving Morgan gentle kisses.

He said: "I thought he would make a lot of noise but he doesn't.

"He cried last night but he didn't wake me up."

Susannah, who has been with Jamie for nine years, was exhausted but glad to be home. She said: "I'm aching a little bit but he's been such a good baby. He only woke up twice last night."

Susannah said she has to get past Jamie first for a cuddle with Morgan. She said: "I have to practically beg him to let me change a nappy."

Jamie said he now feels like he has the perfect family. He said: "I love my athletics but what I really love is my family."

Over a chaotic week Jamie has managed to fit in training in preparation for the Norwich Union International in Glasgow where he will be representing Great Britain in the 400 metres.

He said: "I can't describe it but it feels like the pressure is off to a certain extent. When I'm happy, I run well, and right now I'm really happy."
