FF Vinyl, which won Best Label at last year's Welsh Music Awards, has announced a string of new releases for 2003.

The Cardiff based company will be active in putting out new records this year after managing singer-songwriter, Amy Wadge, to success in 2002, said label partner, Martin Bowen.

Abercynon/Mountain Ash based band Squeezebox, pictured, will release its first album for FF Vinyl plus a single.

The album will put out locally in February with Wales-wide distribution and UK-distribution to follow in March and May/June respectively.

It has been produced by the ubiquitous and talented Greg Haver, plus Mark Wallis who has worked with U2 and The Las.

And it features the drumming of the late Lee Pennington whose family gave permission for the record to be released. It will form a tribute to the much missed musician.

Squeezebox will play in South Wales this month and in March to promote the record.

Singer-songwriter Christopher Rees has at least two albums planned. The first will be a stripped down affair of his blues and harmonica material, followed by a tour of the UK.

The second will be recorded with his ensemble of musicians and is posted for release in November.

Chris's band consists of the usual guitars plus string and percussion sections. The singer is producing the album himself and has already been working on it for one year.

Chris has said that he might follow the initial pair of recordings with an album of instrumental material.

Sleepy acoustic band, The Afternoons, was in the studio last month recording its second album and a Welsh language single already out is doing sterling work on television and radio.

FF Vinyl, is currently finalising a publishing deal for the band.

JT Mouse, Cardiff's quirky acoustic guitar brandishing hero, has recorded an 11-track album and is going to America soon to promote it.

Other artists under development with FF Vinyl include Psycho Squad, whose old-school metal will tour soon without the aid of Motorhead.

But still FF Vinyl want more. Send demos to PO Box 712, Cardiff CF14 3YA.
