A FAMILY wants to thank a good Samaritan who helped their 15-year-old son after a car accident in Newport.
Michael Harvey was riding his bike in the city centre with his brother Martin and a friend, when he was in collision with a car on Saturday.
The accident happened near the new Newport Arts Centre at about 11am. A motorist, believed to be in his 50s, who was parked near the pelican crossing called the emergency services and then administered first aid to Michael until the ambulance arrived.
Michael, of Mountbaxs, Alway, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital were it was discovered he had a broken ankle and was badly bruised. The man who went to Michael's aid is described as having greyish hair and was wearing a red t-shirt.
He was with a woman of a similar age with curly brown short hair. Michael's mother Debbie said: 'We want to get hold of the man who did the first aid as nobody appeared to care except him."
A spokesman for Gwent Police said no prosecutions would arise following the accident.
