DOCKRAD Records present a triple bill of some of the more interesting new and unsigned bands in the UK next week.
Goldrush are headliners with The Keys and Headtest in support plus DJs from Great Pilgrimage in Clwb Ifor Bach on Thursday, January 30.
Goldrush are visiting Wales as part of a tour to promote their latest mini album, Extended Play, out on Monday on Truck Records with accompanying EP.
Two tracks of the seven on the album have been mixed by Mercury Rev producer Dave Fridmann who is known for producing maddening, psychedelic rock monster sounds.
The band has built a solid reputation as a good band to catch live from supporting the likes of The Flaming Lips, The Coral and Elbow.
Their support for the Clwb gig is headed by The Keys who formed last year from the ashes of Murray the Hump, one of Wales' most popular quirky bands. The Keys differ a little from their former selves with string arrangements adding more texture to the sometimes dry sound.
The band is still based on gentle songs by the self-deprecating frontman Matthew Evans and the guitar work of Gwion Rowlands.
Boobytrap have released their debut single Gurl Next Door/Listen the Leaves are Falling, have been played on Radios 1 and 2 and had single of the week on Virgin Radio. They are currently signed to Too Pure Records.
Headest should need little introduction being one of Newport's most popular unsigned bands.
They too recently released a song through Boobytrap, Seen my Air/ Friendly Bombs and are set to return to the studio again.
The gig will be the band's first live appearance since performing at the Keith Allen/Damien Hirst production of Glastonbury the Play which visited Cardiff's Bute Park recently.
Tickets are £5. Doors open 8.30pm. For more information dial 029 2023 2199 surf to www.clwb.com.
