MARK WILLIAMS (pictured) may have won the second-biggest snooker tournament on the circuit last month but he reckons he is still nowhere near his best.

Williams is on the march at the Regal Welsh snooker championships at Cardiff International Arena and is only three matches away from making it a hat-trick of victories.

But despite winning the Powerhouse UK Championships in December, he said: "It is not as good as it was when I beat Matthew (Stevens) in the world championships in 2000. I'm getting better and better but it's not there yet.

"If I am going to win more tournaments, I have to do it on the table.

"I am very grateful to Terry Griffiths (coach) but it is up to me now."

Cwm-born Williams faces Finland's Robin Hull and he has promised the Welshman a hard time after thrashing former world champion and world number one John Higgins 5-1 yesterday, including a tournament best break this year of 139.

Hull said: "I haven't played Mark before and I will be a massive underdog but I'm just looking forward to it."

Ronnie O'Sullivan just managed to get through to the quarter-finals via a second successive 5-4 win in two days, this time against Malta's Tony Drago.

And Stephen Hendry had to go all the way to beat fellow Scot 5-4 in his second round match.

But the tie of the quarter-finals will see a re-match again of last year's - and the previous years - final between England's Paul Hunter and Irishman Ken Doherty.
