A BUDDING actress from Newport is preparing to watch herself 'break a leg' when she appears in the BBC series Casualty on Saturday.
Bethan Mansfield, 13, who lives in Park Drive and attends Duffryn High School, plays the part of truant Jess in a forthcoming episode.
Her character gets into a football game while missing school and when she kicks the ball on to the site of an electricity sub-station, she is goaded into retrieving it. It is there that she breaks her leg and is forced to wait for help.
Bethan's short career has already featured a role in a short film, A Soldier's a Soldier, and Disney's Draw Your Own Toons which was filmed at Shepperton Studios in London.
Bethan said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience: "It was a great opportunity. The cast and crew were so helpful, I loved having my own stunt double and having a false arm and leg made up for the injury scenes."
The episode of Casualty featuring Bethan will be shown on Saturday.
