BANNATYNE'S health club chain has just opened its newest club in Wales' newest city - Newport.
Proprietor Duncan Bannatyne, pictured with long-term partner Joanna McCue, is delighted with the results of his £5m investment.
"We chose Newport because we found a great site in a go-ahead city where only one of the big five fitness operators - Fitness first - was represented."
Mr Bannatyne has no fears about siting his development in Pill, despite a few detractors who attempted to put him off.
The first Bannatyne club was opened in Stockton-on-Tees in 1997. The concept, according to its founder, was to offer "quality and value at the top end of the market for a middle-market price".
A full membership for a single person in Newport is £45 per month.
