THIS abandoned dog is being nursed back to health after being found shivering and alone on a Newport industrial estate.
Anthony Urrutia, (pictured) of Cardiff Road, Newport, was walking his dog on Boxing Day on the LG site when he heard a whimpering noise coming from a hedge.
"I looked closer and saw this whippet," he said. "She had sores and scabs all over her, and was thin and starving."
Mr Urrutia, who has rescued dogs since 1980 and is currently caring for eight, has failed to track down the pet's owner.
"All the dogs I've found have been mistreated, but this dog is the worst I have ever seen. She needed 24 hour attention," he added.
He has now named the whippet-greyhound cross Kora. "She deserves a better life," he said.
"Kora was in such a bad state it was shocking. Something has to be done to re-educate people on looking after animals."
Anyone interested in homing Kora should contact him on 01633 760016. The dog will be fit enough to go to a new home in around a month's time.
