USK Town have clawed some distance back on Division One leaders Pontypool Town by thrashing Panteg 5-1 last weekend.

Pontypool had their match called off because of a waterlogged Albion Road pitch. And Usk were soon in their stride to earn their three points when they established a 3-0 lead over Panteg by half-time.

Daniel Bevan got two of Usk's goals to take his season's total to 25 while Brian Duggan also grabbed a couple and Sean Taylor got one. John Parkinson was the sole goal-scorer for Panteg.

Third placed team Pilcs away game at Llanarth was cancelled again because of a waterlogged pitch, but Goytre managed a narrow victory over Mardy.

Two second-half strikes from Adam Roberts put Goytre in front after Mike Smith had given Mardy a 1-0 half-time lead.

And young Goytre goalkeeper Matt James was in fine form to deny the opposition, making a spectacular save four minutes from time when he went down low to save a powerful thunderbolt shot.

Tranch United won 4-1 at home to Clydach Wasps after a goal-less first 45 minutes.

United were inspired by two second-half substitutions as Martin Page and David Jennings who both grabbed a goal with others coming from Andrew Hayes and Daynor Thorpe. The Clydach Wasps goal was scored by Chris Jowett.

Fairfield United were on the end of a thrashing by Lower New Inn, going down 6-0.

Lower New Inn were indebted to Lee Howells and Alun Willis, who both scored twice, plus David Ellis and Tim Lane.

Llantilio also hit six of the best in Division Two at New Inn.

A hat-trick by Julian Frost and a goal a piece went to Michael Sage, Jason Powell and Adrian Jones did the damage for the visitors and, unsurprisingly, Frost was named man of the match.

Second placed Crickhowell went down 1-0 away to a strengthened Sebastopol B team. The all important goal came from Gwilym Davies.

Meanwhile, Blaenavon Blues made it seven consecutive wins with a 7-0 hammering of Prescoed. Dean Yemm got a hat-trick in the victory, while Ryan Keen scored twice while Allan Scammel and Craig Harris also netted for Blaenavon.

The Pilcs B match with Govilon was another which fell foul to a waterlogged pitch, but Gilwern and District won 6-2 away to Little Mill United.

It was close at half-time, though, with Gilwern just in the lead at 3-2. But Graham Rees ended with a hat-trick as his team ran away with the game.

One nasty incident in the match, though, saw Gilwern's Daniel Phillips taken off the pitch and going to hospital with a badly gashed leg.
