NEWPORT are not content with one much needed victory over London Irish last Saturday - they want another in the return at the Madjeski Stadium on Sunday.

They realise their Heineken Cup qualification hopes are hanging by a thread with favourites Toulouse winning all three pool games so far, but they aren't giving up hope.

"It'll be another tough battle on Sunday and they will come out firing," warned Newport captain Simon Raiwalui.

"But we have got to push forward from here.

"This must not be the pinnacle, but the catalyst.

"Though it was great to get a big win like that on the big stage, and though it was great for the players and the fans we can play a lot better.

"London Irish retain the ball well and they put pressure on you, but if you keep knocking them back, it gives you confidence."

And Newport could be helped at Reading on Sunday if London Irish decide to concentrate their resources more on the resumption of the Zurich Premiership.

The indications are they will make a number of changes for the return clash against Newport.

Scrum half Darren Edwards, formerly of Newport, acknowledges that.

"The focus will be more on the Premiership now," he said. "I think the club will try to give some game time to a number of quality players."

Newport hope Mike Voyle will recover from the back injury which ruled him out of the first game.

After Ian Gough and Jason Jones-Hughes both came through their first big comeback games unscathed, it leaves tight head prop Adrian Garvey as the only injury concern.

His calf injury flared up again, forcing him off near half-time last Saturday and he is struggling to be fit.

It will be full-back Matt Pini's last involvement with Newport.

He returns to Australia early next week after deciding to retire from rugby and end his Newport contract early by mutual consent.

Chief executive Keith Grainger leaves at the end of next week after quitting his position. l London Irish are appealing to Newport fans to buy material on sale in aid of ex-outside half Jarrod Cunningham, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in June.
