A GWENT winemaking company is toasting a fifty-year partnership with its financial advisers.
The Monmouth-based Monnow Valley Wines is owned by the Baker Family, who formerly owned the Duffryn Estate in Newport. Independent chartered accountancy firm Broomfield & Alexander has been providing accountancy services to it for half a century.
The wine business is now run by Peter and John Baker, who took over from their father Ralph in 1979.
Grapes are sent to Gloucestershire for pressing and bottling.
Each year, over 25,000 bottles of dry white, still and sparkling Monnow Valley Wines are sold throughout the UK.
Peter Baker said: "Over the last 50 years, we have come to rely on Broomfield & Alexander and view them as an extension of our business. Obviously, in this time there have been some major changes."
Robert Preece, senior partner at Broomfield & Alexander, said the relationship was a good example of how an accountancy firm and its client could work closely together over a long period.
