SECOND Division Brynmawr are threatening to pull out of the Principality Cup unless the fifth round is re-drawn.
Brynmawr, who say they have the support of other clubs, claim the draw should be done again after Carmarthen Athletic were originally named to face Pontypool when they had been knocked out of the competition by Maesteg on Saturday.
That meant one team, Cwmavon, as a spare side with no one to play after the draw was completed.
They were then inserted to visit Pontypool, with Brynmawr travelling to Carmarthen Quins.
"The draw should have been stopped after Carmarthen Athletic's name was read out and re-done," said Brynmawr official Robert Kershaw.
"We will probably pull out of the competition if they don't re-draw. It should be null and void.
"The WRU have just had a new chief executive. What is he going to think about this?"
But a WRU spokesman offered the club little hope.
"We are satisfied that the draw stands and is valid," he said.
Another Brynmawr official said: "They are getting paid all this money and they can't get a simple cup draw right."
Meanwhile, Division Four East club Pill Harriers had little luck in the draw.
They were hoping for an attractive home draw, but instead have to travel to Llandovery, who are second in the Second Division.
There is also no joy for Abertillery, who have slumped to the bottom of Division Two.
They have been drawn away to Aberavon, third in the First Division and champions for the past two years.
Two Gwent derbies see First Division sides Blackwood and Tredegar at home to Cross Keys and Bedwas, respectively, though home advantage could count for little in the heat of the battle.
First Division leaders Pontypool are home to Cwmavon, and should have an easy passage into the next round on January 25 when the big guns enter the competition, and the smaller clubs are guaranteed a home draw.
Improving Newbridge, up to fifth in the First Division, also have a decent home draw with the visit of Rumney, who are bottom but one in the First Division.
Draw: Aberavon v Abertillery; Beddau v Merthyr; Blackwood v Cross Keys; Bonymaen v Llangennech; Carmarthen Quins v Brynmawr; Hirwaun v Maesteg; Llandovery v Pill Harriers; Llanharan v Tondu; Nantymoel v Taffs Well; Newbridge v Rumney; Penygraig v Narberth; Pontypool v Cwmavon; Tredegar v Bedwas; Treorchy v Glamorgan Wanderers; Whitland v Banwen. Matches to be played on Saturday December 21.
