A RAPIST was jailed for six years after he used a young girl as "a sex plaything to indulge his fantasies".

Andrew Phillip Prosser, aged 26, from Grafton Road, Newport, was found guilty in October of a catalogue of sex attacks, including two counts of rape, three counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency towards a young girl in the 1990s.

Sentencing him at Newport crown court, Judge David Morris told Prosser: "You knew what you were doing was wrong and you did it to satisfy your own sexual desire."

Robert Buckland, mitigating, said Prosser's attacks were "historic" and displayed "a lack of aggravating features".

In sentencing Prosser, Judge Morris told him: "You used the girl as a sex plaything to indulge your fantasies. I take into account the age of the offences, the fact that you were still a developing teenager at the time and that no other sex offences have been committed by you since."

The judge said Prosser had showed no remorse and sentenced him to six years and five years for the two rapes; two 30 month sentences and an 18 month sentence for the indecent assaults and two 30 month sentences for the acts of indecency which will run concurrently.

Judge Morris warned Prosser that he was unlikely to be released until he had served at least two-thirds his sentence and that he would be placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
