JENNA Baldwin's mother Desiree has visited the site where her daughter's remains were found, police have revealed.
Forensic tests have now confirmed that the human remains found in a shallow grave on a Blaenavon mountainside were Jenna's.
Detectives and Jenna's family accepted that it was the missing 15-year-old yesterday after finding one of the teenager's favourite rings in the grave.
Yesterday the searches were halted as Jenna's mother visited the spot where the body was found.
She was accompanied to the scene by Chief Inspector John Oliver and family liaison officers.
Chief Inspector Oliver said: "We felt it was important for Jenna's mother to have the opportunity to visit the area where we found Jenna while the road was still closed allowing her to spend a moment in private. Even though searches are on-going and work is still being carried out at the scene everything came to a halt as a mark of respect.
"A number of people have visited the officers manning the road blocks to ask where flowers and tributes should be placed.
"I suggest tributes should be taken to the layby behind the clearing where Jenna's body was found once the road has been opened.
"The events of this week have brought to a close the endless wait for Desiree Baldwin, her family and friends. Even though this is a tragic conclusion Desiree's mind is now at rest and she is able to grieve for her daughter."
The results of the post mortem examination are still awaited and searches in the area where the body was found will continue for a couple of days.
Jenna went missing from her Abersychan home in September. Her step-father, Michael Baldwin, of Lime Kiln Road has been charged with her murder.
