POLICE searching for missing schoolgirl Jenna Baldwin found human remains in a shallow grave in woodland last night.

Specialist search teams were acting on an undisclosed tip-off and started scouring a small area at Fiddler's Elbow, about a mile from Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon, at about 4pm.

Just before midnight they made the grim discovery of human remains in a shallow grave beneath some stones on the site of the derelict Puddler's Arms pub.

Specialist forensic archaeologist Barrie Simpson, of the Forensic Search Advisory Group, was drafted in from the West Midlands to lead the search through woodland just off the side of the road.

Jenna has been missing from her Abersychan home for ten weeks. The 15-year-old's stepfather, Michael Baldwin, has been charged with her murder.

Police liaison officers were with Jenna's mother, Desiree Baldwin, as the remains were discovered. She was being kept informed of any developments throughout the night.

The body was expected to be formally identified by dental records some time today, and a post-mortem examination was also due to be carried out.

The B4246 Blaenavon to Abergavenny road was sealed off and was expected to be closed for most of the day. We picture police officers at the site.
