HOLIDAY on Ice, the most popular live entertainment show in the world, will celebrate its tenth anniversary in Wales when it returns to Cardiff with its groundbreaking new spectacular, In Concert, at Cardiff International Arena from Tuesday, February 11, to Sunday, February 16.

In Concert is the first-ever Holiday on Ice production to feature live musicians performing on the ice alongside the show's international cast of 60 top-class figure skaters - bringing a whole new dimension to the ice show genre.

A dazzling state-of-the-art light show, projections and a giant video screen, complete with the added talents of a team of champion rollerbladers, are also innovations for Holiday on Ice.

Willy Bietak, In Concert producer and director, explains: "In Concert is conceptual. Years ago ice shows always used to perform with a live orchestra. I always thought it was a shame not to see the musicians anymore, so in this show there is a natural marriage, a one-to-one encounter between the musician and the skater. We are creating a concert with all its technical elements and combining the two ingredients... the concert with the skating."

In Concert takes the audience on a whirlwind tour of the world and its music, from tribal Africa to the mysterious deserts of the Middle East, from the street life of the urban USA to the heat and passion of South America. Transporting us in a flash to every exotic corner of the globe, In Concert celebrates the contrasting musical traditions of different races and cultures through the ages.

Ranging from the graceful and romantic to the fast and funky, and performed with all the skill and panache for which Holiday on Ice is famed, In Concert's vibrant, colourful skating routines are imaginatively choreographed by Olympic figure-skating gold medallist Robin Cousins, MBE, and set to a diverse array of live music that includes the work of Sting, the Gypsy Kings, Peter Gabriel, Ladysmith Black Mambaso, John Lee Hooker, Paul Simon, Miles Davies, Ofra Haza and Moby, as well as original compositions by Kevin Nadeau.

Robin Cousins, MBE, comments: "Because In Concert is live, not only from a skating point of view but from a music point of view, every audience will possibly see something different."

Once again Holiday on Ice, together with the South Wales Echo and Real Radio are supporting Ty Hafan, the Children's Hospice for Wales. A donation of £1 from every adult and senior citizen's ticket and 50p from each child ticket purchased for the gala performance on Tuesday, February 11, will be given to the charity, with a minimum donation of £1,000 given to Ty Hafan.

On its UK tour, In Concert will have something extra to celebrate, Holiday on Ice's 300 Millionth Fan. Every audience member will have the opportunity to enter into a unique prize draw to be counted as the official 300 Millionth visitor, and have their wish made into reality by Holiday on Ice - the show that makes your dreams come true.

In Concert combines the virtuoso performances of the skater, with their stunning costumes, amazing speed and athleticism and breathtaking grace, with the infectious rhythms and atmospheric melodies performed by the musicians and vocalists, in a show that appeals to audiences of all ages.
